A Cup of Coffee + A Book With A Happy Ending

August 14th, 2011 | by upto6only |

I already fell in love with the story even if just by reading the synopsis of it. Every page is worth finishing and a lot of learning.  Finally, i was able to finish reading this book after i bought last week :(   Should have finished it in a day had i have no other important things to accomplish.  The story of Shelly and Max will really make you hooked on reading the book.  Of course, after buying it in National Bookstore (book cost P499 but NBS is on sale so i got it at P399), i headed to Krispy Kreme to get my cup of coffee and begin to the love story of the 2 main characters.  Krispy Kreme by the way, is one of my coffee shop list to visit and have my coffee collection :)

Latte (with my personlized latte art) + Before Ever After

The story will bring us to the beautiful places in Europe like Paris; Versailles, France; Bicocca, Italy; Emmental Valley, Switzerland; Vienna, Austia; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Rome and all the way to our beautiful island, Boracay to unfold those untold stories we never ever knew.  It will fly us back to 67 A.D to present.  Each chapter gives the reader something to look forward to…it reveals the story behind Max and who he is.  There are some funny moments, mystery, love story and oh, you may want to visit your doctor after due to high cholesterol hahaha because the whole trip will be about chicken and eggs :-D

Cappuccino by Krispy Kreme

Since i’m staying a little bit longer, i ordered another cup, this time, i tried their cappuccino with a different latter art :)   I have my 10 favorite lines/ quotes in the story and here they are:

  1. “Breathing is not an optional activity”
  2. “You can get through life’s tightest jams if you are fortunate enough to have a chicken on hand”
  3. “…in order to really enjoy any story, you need to get the ending out of the way as soon as possible – You were here to learn the conclusion of one family’s story so that you may better appreciate how it began and the cast of characters you will meet along the way”
  4. “Sundials – it is the closest we can come to grasping what time really means.  It moves on whether you want it or not. It doesn’t have a snooze button you can hit to bargain for an extra 5 mins.”
  5. “If we accept time for what it is, how it flows and how we flow with it, I doublt very much that we would continue wasting loads of it by constantly checking our watches…”
  6. “Where we are now is where a lifetime’s worth of steps have taken us…”
  7. “Children know when they’re loved.  It’s when you grow up that you’re more easily fooled” ~ Shelly
  8. “Sex is easy.  All they really need is a few good thrusts. But when they kiss, they open themselves up and let you in…makes some men’s balls shrink to size of raisins”
  9. “Growing old is to be set free…it is a slow and long simmering process that extracts from you what you are really made of.  But it requires acceptance…you must accept the heat and the pain with serenity so that the full flavors of your life may be released.
  10. “Life is – a barter of choices and consequences.  Nothing you have is without a price paid by yourself or someone else”

Of course, i wasn’t able to finish reading this in just one sitting. So i had to bring the book with me in the office while i avail of Mcdonald’s free brewed coffee :)

I wanted to tell more about the story, why it’s titled “Before Ever After” but i have to keep my mouth close and wait for you to discover it :) .  But truly, i must congratulate the author, Ms. Samantha Sotto, for writing such a beautiful story. This is my fave book after twilight hehehe.
