Cebu and Bacolod’s Pride = Chic-Boy
July 28th, 2010 | by upto6only |Saw Chic–Boy along Jupiter St. one Sunday afternoon and did a research on it. Found good reviews so I decided to share the link to my officemates which ended treating them there. Apparently, Jupiter St. is booming once again with many good establishments and restaurants growing in this area. Well this is because also of the school, call center and offices within the area.
Chic-Boy is a new trademark and business model of Pier One Bar and Grill Holdings Corporation, the company behind the successful Pier One Bar and Grill restaurant chain in the Philippines. In September 2008, the first outlet opened in Marikina City. Currently, Chic-Boy™ has nine (9) units in the Chic-Boy™ Take-Out Store system, seven (7) are company owned and 2 are franchised unit. This July 2010, Chic-Boy™ will start to offer its Dine-In store concept for franchise
Havent tried yet lechon from Cebu and I guess this is one opportunity as many have said that Cebu’s lechon is the best well even well-known author and chef, Anthony Bourdain can attest to that. We went there during lunch hours and I would say that the place is so jump packed already with customers. You would see customers come and go. Just to say, that many loves this restaurant already. My suggestion, if you like to try the place during lunch hours and on a weekday, either you go there around 11 to 11:30 am or 1:30 pm.
We wanted to try all but since their main dishes are the Lechon Manok and Liempo, We ordered them both. We added a soup to our main course so we had Sinigang na Salmon sa Misu. They’re menus are divided into Chibog Busog Meals, Chiquito Meals, Magandang Umaga Meals, Sizzling Specials, Soup, Merienda, Side Orders, Extras, Desserts, Drinks.
On the table:
Cebu Lechon Manok (whole – P210, half – P120)
Cebu Lechon Liempo (whole – P155)
Both the chicken and liempo tastes so good except for the lemon grass which i don’t like the after taste.
Sinigang na Salamon (P49.00) This can be shared. The bitterness of the soup is just perfect.
Ginisang Kangkong sa Bawang (P30.00). I find this just ok. I think it would be good to combine it with bagoong
Inihaw na Talong at Bagoong (P25.00)
We ordered them in 2′s except for the talong so you could imagine how these foods kept pouring on our table. The other tables and those who have just arrived were looking at us :p even the waiters were a bit surprised on the amount of food that we orderedconsidering that we are all girls – 6 to be exact
For our dessert, yes we still have one, we had their bestseller, the Turones con Leche.
Turones con Leche (P30.00 for 6 pcs.)
This is your regular turon dipped in condensed milk ( i guess). There is no langka inside. I guess, this dessert can be improved by adding langka or drizzling the condensed milk and topping it with nuts.
Would you believe that all their menus are reasonably priced? Truly a “value meal” that will satisfy your stomach and your wallet. And what surprised me was their ice tea costs only P25 and it is bottemless already (wow). They offer also unlimited rice when you order from their Chibog Busog Meals.
Have to come back and try their other dishes especially their sizzling menus.

this not like KFC. It is not breaded and fried. their chicken and liempo are grilled. you should try this when you’re in Manila

i like chic-boy but half of my friends from cebu hate it. Pretentious cebuano food daw. Well, kebs. Basta masarap! I love their lechon sisig and salmon sinigang. I dont like the turones.
