I heART Makati
June 30th, 2010 | by upto6only |Last June 9, Ayala Land organized the “I HEART Makati”, which is in line with Makati’s 340th Foundation Day and Independence Day. The event started out with the unveiling of the Philippine’s 1st Living Flag at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. The living flag, which measures around 150 square meters, were made of almost four thousand flowering plants. Adjacent to it, were historical facts and tidbits about the Philippine flag.
The Ayala Triangle Gardenwas opened last year. It measures about 20,000 square meters and is the biggest landscape in the heart of Makati CBD covering the three main districts of Makati – Ayala Avenue, Paseo de Roxas, and Makati Avenue or what is known as the the Ayala Triangle. What is good about this garden is that the area is a wifi hotspot. It is a good place to relax and unwind after office or just stroll around because of the hundreds of trees, plants and sculptures of local artists that surrounds the whole garden. The Garden also became the jogging area of many jogging enthusiasts. You can a lot of them circling the triangle after office hours.

Major activity of the said event was the photography contest called “I heart Makati, Makati through the lens Photography Contest”, featuring Makati City. This was a very good event organized by Ayala Land to allow photo enthusiast and professional photographers to shoot around Makati Central Business District without being questioned/ reprimanded by security guards.

The photography contest was a week-long competition for photography and camera clubs which kicked-off on June 9 and ended on June 19 with an on-the-spot contest open to the public for kids, teens and adults held at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. There were also free photography sessions from noted professionals like Mr. John Chua and her daughter Kathy Chua, who gave out a talk on family portraiture, then there was Edwin Martinez, and Francis Inton who discussed an introduction to lomography.
Aside from this, there were also activities for kids and festive photo opportunities with mimes at the Gardens. Some of the animals at the Manila Zoo like Cockatoo bird, parrot, phyton, rabbit, pot belly pig, tortoise and the star of the animal, the blue tongued skink were brought there.

Prizes also awaits the best vintage personal photographs taken in Makati.
This is really one good event and hopefully there would be another one next year.

Namiss ko ang Makati, huhuhu.
On a funny note, the first photo reminded me of Farm Town. I am not sure if you still remember when I formed a plot in my “farm” to show a Philippine flag.

makati particularly glorietta and greenbelt, has been my son’s “playground” but funny that i haven’t brought my wife & our kid to ayala triangle park for a stroll. dinadaanan ko lang yan between makati ave & paseo.
makati’s so fresh and green on your photos. i like that ‘living flag’; have to see it soon.

You mentioned about the joggers. I have to say that Ayala CBD is the best route (at least for me) so far for races.
